Along with the wonderful batch of Po'Boy Ice Cream Sandwiches sent by New Orleans Ice Cream Company, we were also fortunate enough to try one of their sister company's new, very popular summer treats. We've all had generic snow cones before with crunchy bits of shaved ice topped with colorful, sugary syrups, but these Sno-Balls To Go are uniquely New Orleans. Instead of the usual granulated texture we've come to expect from snow cones, these Sno-Balls implement a fluffy base made up of finely shaven ice.
With summer officially arriving in just a few days, this should be the perfect way to usher in 90 plus degree heat, and at only 340 calories per pint, should keep our beach bodies in check to boot.
We started with Pina Colada and spooned out samples of all 10 flavors currently available. As advertised, the texture is something completely different from your run-of-the-mill snow cone. The soft, airy feel from each bite, coupled with the sugary summer flavors were a big hit with us all. While the Sno-Ball is different than many of the ice creams you see on this site, they are certainly something you'll want to cool off with as the warmer months roll through. See an under-the-lid view of every pint below.
