I had a few coupons left that I had to use before they expired on 12/31/15. I drove down to my local Whole Foods and decided to stock up on some ice cream for the next few weeks. Today, I decided that I would try out McConnell's Turkish Coffee. It is described as "A three-bean selection of espresso and cold-processed coffees delivers all the aroma, smoothness and complex coffee flavor you want, leaving behind any acidity and bitterness. A true coffee fanatic’s ice cream." Sounded good to me!
I took my pint home and then busted it open right away. When I peeled off the lid, I noticed that there were a ton of speckled espresso type beans/flakes. The ice cream itself had a nice golden brown color to it. It pretty much looked like what coffee ice cream should look like ;-). I took a bite in and noticed the nice creamy and rich texture of McConnell's ice cream! The little flecks of espresso beans provided a nice texture in the mouth and the coffee flavor itself was awesome! If you never had coffee ice cream before, and tried this for the first time, this is what you should expect coffee ice cream to taste like. I mowed down that pint in record time. Even though it was one flavor and didn't have any mix ins or other ingredients, it still kept my palate interested the whole pint down.
As far as a plain, coffee ice cream goes, this was one of the best ones I have had. I would definitely buy it again, and it was one of the more simple, yet delicious McConnell's offerings I have come across.
