Man........It's been awhile. Low carb diets and ice cream don't mix too well so that is why I have been MIA for awhile. I had a few pints left in my freezer from New Orleans Ice Cream Company and decided to have a "cheat day" and sample one of them. That flavor I sampled was Cherries Jubilee. It is described as "This classic New Orleans dessert has brandy soaked cherries in a creamy cherry ice cream. A dash of orange liqueur is lagniappe."
I opened the pint and noticed the slight purple-ish tint to the ice cream. I took a bite and immediately could taste the liqueur aspect of it. I'm not the biggest fan of liqueur in ice cream because most of the time it overpowers the other flavors. In this pint, it hit you, but it faded away pretty quick. The base of this pint was incredibly smooth in the mouth just like all their other flavors. This ice cream tasted a tad different than most though. It had a strong yogurt type taste to it. It took me by surprise. A little more "tangy" than sweet. Nothing wrong with it though and I was happy to taste something different. The brandy soaked cherries were a bit skimp. I only encountered maybe 5 or 6 of them the whole way through the pint. The pieces I did encounter were nice sized half cherries but I wish there was more packed in here.
Overall, it was a good pint. Not one of their top flavors, but more middle of the pack. I could see myself eating it again if it was offered, but they have so many better flavors out there, I couldn't see myself buying this one again.
