Haagen Dazs ice cream reviews have been scattered throughout this blog since the beginning. More often than not, these "pints" of ice cream find themselves near the upper portion of our overall rankings. Their standard flavors seem to score slightly above average, but their limited edition and specialty creations are the ones that have really wowed us. So when I recently ran across Ginger Molasses Cookie from their Artisan Collection I knew we had to investigate further.
Cookies in ice cream are a proven winner. Add in some ginger and molasses inspiration and I'm all in. "Ginger molasses cookie pieces are mixed into gourmet vanilla cinnamon ice cream to create an artisan recipe inspired by the renowned bakery treats of The Good Batch® in Brooklyn." The first layer speaks for itself as it shows off the spice-filled base and bits of cookie right from the start.
And it only got better. A few scrapes of our golden spoon was all it took to allow the ginger molasses cookie bits to fully reveal themselves. I'm already a vanilla-cinnamon enthusiast, so this base was right up my alley. The excellent feel of Haagen Dazs ice cream on the tongue goes without saying. The bits of ginger molasses cookie were full of flavor and added just the right touch of texture. All in all, this exceeded our already high expectations.
