After my wonderful experience trying Handel's Cake Batter, I knew I would be making more visits there this month. I decided to pick up their Cookie Dough, remembering reading Chef Bob's great review of the flavor. I also picked up Banana Cream Pie, which I will be tasting and reviewing tomorrow.
I crack the pint and immediately am blown away by the amount of mixins showing from the top. I have to be honest, I genuinely laughed out loud in happiness. I took a spoonful for myself to try before scooping it out for the actual review.
First thoughts: holy sh***. So much cookie dough.
I swim through the absolute ship wreckage that is my cookie dough mix ins to get some base alone. Not surprised, Handel's ice cream itself is top quality. The vanilla is well done, but has a slightly...I want to say batter-ish flavor to it? THIS IS NOT A BAD THING!! I go to the chocolate chunks. They aren't hard as a rock, which is a nice texture find. They are similar to a candy bar you may have put in the fridge, with a nice and gentle bite.
The cookie dough chunk in itself are in abundance. But is it just quantity? NOPE. This cookie dough is easily right up there with 2nd Street. This pint, overall, is easily in my top 2 cookie dough flavors I've ever had. Absolutely amazing.
