I have had a love obsession with chocolate molten/lava cake ever since I was introduced to it on a Carnival Cruise many years ago. I would eat one of those things every single night for dessert...sometimes even 2 of them! Something about that cake, fudge combo had me sold! I was browsing the specialty ice cream section at my local Fry's and came across this pint of Coolhaus Chocolate Molten Cake. I knew I had to buy it and try it out! Chocolate Molten Cake is described as "Chocolate Ice Cream with Chewy Cake Pieces & a Fudge Swirl". Sounded right up my alley!
I removed the lid and was bombarded with cake pieces! At first, I was hoping that this wasn't a remelted pint that had somehow brought all the cake pieces in the pint to the top. Very rare, if ever, do you see a pints main ingredients in such abundance right when you take off the lid! I am happy to say, this was not the case. Coolhaus just hooks it up like that! I took a bite of the cake pieces first and was very happy. These cake pieces are almost more like a brownie. They are soft and moist like a cake but also had a little fudgy/chewy component to them. They were flat out delicious! I scooped some of the chocolate base next. This base was incredibly chocolaty and everything you could want in a chocolate flavor. Rich and delicious but not over the top sweet. While eating, every once in awhile, I would get a more dense and rich bite. Yup...that is the fudge swirl they incorporate in here! It added another layer to this already delicious pint! All the way through this pint, it was chocolate ice cream, fudge swirl and cake pieces. This pint was packed full of goodness! One of the better chocolate ice creams I have had in awhile!
Overall, this pint was fantastic! It was the first pint of Coolhaus I have sampled and I am excited to try out their other flavors (I have their Mint Chip flavor in my freezer to sample later this week). I can't imagine a better chocolate flavored ice cream and I will definitely buy this again!
