I have made my way through half of Tea-Rrific's flavors. 2 out of 3 have been awesome and A rated flavors. I decided to sample the Ginger Matcha flavor the other night. Ginger Matcha is described as "A fresh bite of fresh ginger with grassy notes of matcha green tea".
I took off the lid and noticed the yellowish green tint of the ice cream. I took a bite and liked the smooth texture of the base and how it melted on my tongue. That is about the only good thing I can say about this flavor! This flavor was incredibly "earthy" and had a really strong ginger aspect to it. When I was a little kid, my grandmother would wash my mouth out with soap. I know the taste well (I had/have a potty mouth). This first bite in, frankly, tasted like soap. My mom split this pint with me and she thought the same thing. Her exact quote was, "I like the texture of this, its nice and smooth, but it tastes like eating shaving cream. I can't eat any more of this, Timmy". I was in the same boat. I just couldn't get past/appreciate the flavor profile they were going for. The pint soon went in the trash.
Unfortunately, this may have been my least favorite ice cream flavor I have ever tried. Surprisingly, this is also one of their best sellers! I couldn't get past the fact that it tasted way too floral and soapy. I would never buy or eat this flavor again. I am glad that I tried their other flavors first. If this was my first introduction to their product, I doubt I would even try any of their other offerings. The only way I would recommend this is if ginger is your favorite flavor in life. Other than that, skip it. Thank goodness Tea-Rrific's other flavors have been good!
