My wife was in the mood for some chocolate ice cream so we decided to bust open the pint of Mississippi Debris. Mississippi Debris is described as "Our Rich Chocolate Ice Cream Is Chock Full Of Fudge Brownie Pieces, Chocolate Flakes, Truffles, Malt Balls, Choc. Almonds, Cherry Cups & Marshmallow, A Fudge Swirl Completes This, Wow!" Sounded extremely "busy", but that could be a good thing! Here is how it was...............
I removed the lid from the pint and was so anxious to dig in, I forgot to take a picture! I recall the top of the pint being dark brown with some swirl showing through. I also noticed that the ingredients and caloric content on the label was a bit off. No way in hell does this pint come in at only 480 calories. I think each serving was supposed to be at least 220 calories, not 120. Anyways..... I took a bite of the ice cream and encountered all sorts of things. My first bite in I got to sample the rich chocolate base, a piece of almond and a malt ball. Second bite in, I found a cherry cup, a brownie piece, a truffle, a mini marshmallow and got some of the fudge swirl. The cherry cups were very faint. It was just like eating one of those chocolate covered cherries. A little runny/jellylike type filling. It was alright but there were only a few cherries in the pint. The marshmallows were pretty pedestrian, too. They were actual mini marshmallows and not a swirl or anything like that. They tasted ok but I think a marshmallow swirl may have worked better in this pint. The brownie pieces were soft and a tad chewy. They weren't as chewy as other brands brownie bites, but they were still decent enough. The few truffle pieces in here were very good. They provided a good texture and an explosion of dark chocolate flavor! Last but not least, the star of this pint was definitely the fudge swirl. This was like eating a cold version of hot fudge/pudding. The swirl was decadent. This was layered pretty consistent through the whole pint and really stood out! By far, my favorite part of the pint!
Overall, this pint was good. I could have done without the marshmallows, malt balls and the cherry cups (they didn't add a whole lot to the pint plus there was a lack of the actual pieces of those ingredients.) The brownie pieces, truffles, almonds and that fudge swirl make this pint a winner though. It is definitely the most "packed" flavor New Orleans Ice Cream Co. carries. If you are into a ton of mix ins within your pint, this is probably your guy!
