I'm becoming a big fan of Ben and Jerry's "Core" offerings (minus the Speculoos one). I decided to pick up the Salted Caramel Core one today. It is described as "Sweet Cream Ice Cream with Blonde Brownies & a Salted Caramel Core". It sounded delicious and was a pretty easy choice. I took it home and dug in.
Upon removing the lid, I noticed a bunch of the blondie brownie pieces showing through and also a beautiful swirl of the salted caramel right in the middle. I tried the sweet cream ice cream first. It was pretty tasty. Not overly sweet but definitely enough so to remind you that this was some premium ice cream. I got into the blondie (brownie with brown sugar and vanilla instead of chocolate/cocoa) pieces next. There were a ton of little pieces in this pint. Texture was good...a little chewy, mostly soft, but not gooey soft and just sweet enough. I sort of wish the pieces were a little bit bigger, but there were so many of them in the pint, it worked out ok. Lastly, I tried the caramel core. Wow! We have a winner! This core was so smooth, rich and delicious! The "salted" part was not overpowering either. I hate when some sea salted foods are just overpowering with the salt aspect. This was not the case in this pint. The salt taste was definitely there, but not overkill. The caramel provided great texture in the mouth. I wish this pint had more of it in there though. It seemed like the core only went about 1/2 of the way down the pint. Nonetheless, it was very tasty. I finished off that pint in no time.
Overall, this flavor was very good. I'm pretty confident I will buy it again. I think this may be the only "salted caramel" offering from Ben and Jerry's too. If you are into that flavor, go and pick this up right now. You will definitely enjoy it!
