NEWS: 2nd St. Creamery Closes Up Shop

We're sad to announce that a company full of A-rated flavors have ceased to make any more pints. 2nd St. Creamery had this to say, "Unfortunately, the product line and all flavors have been discontinued for the 2nd St. Creamery Ice Cream. Although, many of our consumers did enjoy the product, it didn't sell as well as we had anticipated. We wish we had better news."

This comes as sad news, so let's say goodbye with a few money shots from some of their best (and head over to Reviews By Brand Page to see them all):

  1. It probably didn't sell as well as they wanted because it was IMPOSSIBLE to find. Walmart use to carry it and then when they dumped it, the only place I ever saw it was at obscure gas stations far from home.

  2. Never tried their ice cream because I could never find it. Shelf space is highly competitive. :(

  3. I knew something was up when Walmart stopped carrying it about a year ago. CKC and Tons of Brownies were excellent pints every time.

  4. We used to get it regularly at Fareway and Hy-Vee supermarkets in central Iowa. Was afraid that something like this had happened when all the pints disappeared a few months ago... just about the only ice cream I ever really liked.

  5. OMG!!!! Copper Kettle is my favorite. I wish I would have known it was going to disappear, I would have bought a case. I'm so disappointed 😢

  6. This was a great brand, but a little on the pricey side. The strawberry rhubarb was the best strawberry ice cream I ever had. Sorry to see them close. My local Harris Teeter replaced them with Graeter's, which is a high-quality brand from Cincinnati.

  7. Seriously???

You guys only sold your product in obscure locations, which is why. Your ice cream is the best ice cream of all time. You can't deny people the pleasure of don't tell me no cookie dough. PLEASE find a way to fix this!!!!!

  8. It was the best ice cream I've had. I really do hate that it no longer exists but only because it's an example of poor marketing and logistics. It's hard to sell quantity when you never see it advertised anywhere and can only buy it in isolated locations you must randomly find like a treasure hunt. Step one for failing: make it hard for buyers to know you exist and find a place to buy your product.

For those curious, this was a Blue Bunny brand, but Blue Bunny does not sell equivalent products. Frankly, I dislike a lot of Blue Bunny's products as many taste sub par versus competition. 2nd Street was a premium product, an example of what Blue Bunny could make if they actually wanted to make good products. It might be useful to contact Blue Bunny about reintroducing the 2nd Street brand or at least introduce the same ice cream formulas under the Blue Bunny brand. There's no reason they can't. It just needs to be a decision of if they want to manufacture a premium product which has slightly higher cost. I say slightly because much of the cost comes from two things: packaging (biggest percentage by a moderate margin) and butterfat content (premium uses higher percentages).

  12. I live in RI and had never heard of 2nd Street Creamery. Today I followed a truck on a local road in southern Rhode Island so my interest was piqued. Being an icecream addict, had to to look them up and was very sad to read that it closed in 2015. Is there any possibility that they are back in business???? Would love to try them. FYI, found your site by googling 2nd St. Creamery. Thanks

  14. Our hearts are broken. Copper kettle was our favorites. In fact, my daughter and I both agree that this is the best ice cream we have ever tasted. I had no idea that we would never taste it again. Please come back. Seriously. Find a way to come back.
