REVIEW: Baskin Robbins Jamoca Almond Fudge

With all the coffee ice creams we've posted reviews of lately, it was time to see how Baskin Robbins and their Jamoca Almond Fudge ice cream stacked up against the stiff competition. Similar to Mocha Almond Fudge from Blue Bell, Baskin Robbins brings together coffee ice cream with roasted almonds & chocolate flavored ribbon.

The first layer looked unorganized, but after taking a few bites and seeing that practically every spoonful included all three main ingredients, we didn't mind the clutter. The base ice cream was simple, smooth and went well with the soft almonds and thick stripes of rich, dark chocolate slicing throughout the carton. All in all, another winner for Baskin Robbins, but not quite on the same level as some other top tier coffee ice creams we've reviewed.

Where I Found It: Baskin-Robbins
Grade: B

  1. A sentimental one for me; this was one of my pig-out treats of choice while a university student. I love the flavors today because I am instantly rocketed back to 25 years ago.

  2. Jamocha Almond Fudge has been my all-time favorite ice cream for about 55 years. Do you know Baskin Robbins invented it and it was there before the other copycat flavors? That said, I'm a little disappointed with the last quarts I have bought, in Dunkin Donut/BR . I like things that are REAL. BR must have cut back the recipe to save money . It seems like the amount of coffee has been reduced . It is way down on the ingredients list. The fudge is less authentic, less fudgey, than it used to be, too. Both the ice cream AND the fudge taste more like high fructose corn sugar flavor , not like the more natural taste it originally had . I also remember. The almonds being wholler or halves and not bits or slices. This will probably continue to be my perennial flavor of choice . But I may grow to resent the artificial corn syrupy taste, and may buy this less frequently and dabble in Edy's and Starbucks coffee and coffee chip flavors instead. It used to be no one could touch the quality of BR Jamoca Almond Fudge. I'm sad.
