REVIEW: Blue Bell Chocolate Covered Cherries

As I soon as we received the Reader Review of Blue Bell’s Chocolate Covered Cherries, we were on high alert to locate a carton. This combination of smooth, creamy cherry ice cream with heart-shaped chocolate covered cherry candies and a thick chocolate sundae sauce swirl wouldn’t be the first time chocolate and cherries had come together in ice cream, but this description sounded far better than the competition.

After seeing the amount of chocolate sauce and candies they stuff inside this carton, the 180 calories per serving is more than reasonable. The cherry ice cream tastes comparable to other cherry ice creams on the market, but that’s where the similarities stop. The sundae sauce swirl is the same one found in flavors like Coconut Fudge or Century Sundae and it just as impressive as before. Blue Bell is one of the best in the business when it comes to your basic chocolate sauce swirl.

Blue Bell fully expresses the theme of this flavor by tossing in a high amount of chocolate covered cherry candies to accompany the cherry ice cream and chocolate sauce. While the outside of these are made of chocolate, as soon as the thin exterior is cracked, a concentrated cherry syrup center is released. When combined with the cherry ice cream and thick, fudge swirl, this was one of the best cherry-based ice creams we’ve had.

  2. This flavor's pretty intriguing, and am looking forward to trying it. I see a lot of cherry cordials being sold around this time of year, so it almost seems like this flavor could be one of their "Holiday Favorites" contenders.

  3. The question as to whether cherries can have this effect for everyone who is suffering with gout is a question which is still yet to be completely answered, and whilst there are some who remain cynical about cherries being a solution, there are plenty of others who will say that it has really worked for them.
